Staff Bios


Karen Schoonover, M. Ed.
Mrs. Karen Schoonover is an Assistant Lead Administrator at NHACS and oversees the Middle School program. Her previous experience as a teacher and principal has provided her with the insights and challenges of working with middle school students. Her breadth of experience has reinforced her communication skills, allowing her to view a wide variety of instructional practices and has strengthened her understanding of the qualities of an effective teacher. Mrs. Schoonover is a certified principal and previously worked at Hanover Public School District. She holds a Master of Education from Temple University. Back to Top

Denise Stouffer, M. Ed.
Mrs. Denise Stouffer is the Lead Administrator at New Hope Academy Charter School. Denise began her teaching career as a special education teacher at York City School District thirteen years ago. Since that time she has acted as the chair of a variety of leadership and curricular committees. Denise obtained her Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in curriculum and instructional design in 2005. It was during this time that she completed her three year research program, curricula, and book on the impact of writing on student achievement. She also became heavily involved in analyzing data and began training teachers and administrators on the impact of data-driven instructional practices and effective planning techniques within the classroom. She has developed two staff development programs, has received a research grant from Continental Press, and has plans to obtain her second master’s degree program at Drexel University. Back to Top

Roger Walker, M. Ed.
Mr. Roger Walker is an Assistant Lead Administrator at NHACS and oversees the High School program. He is a certified principal with over sixteen years of experience in Educational Administration. He previously worked for Innovative Educational Programs in Philadelphia, PA. He has worked as a teacher and in alternative education settings. His goal is to positively affect student achievement and development. Additional certifications that Mr. Walker holds are Industrial Arts Education Certificate, Level II and Boy’s Town Administrator Certification. Mr. Walker holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Temple University. Back to Top
